Sayapatri, or marigold, can bring a warm yellow or orange colour to a wedding setup. The useful questions begin before the flowers reach the mandap: where will they come from, when will they arrive and which parts of the design will use them?
A local flower story worth knowing
Kantipur reported on Pokhara's flower growers and local sales plans for Tihar in October 2025. It is a helpful sign of flower-growing work in the area. It does not tell us which flowers will be available for your wedding date.
Government marigold guidance also discusses planned growing and the focus on Tihar supply. Ask the actual supplier about your date. Do not assume a festival crop means the same supply all year.
Ask about the flowers in your order
Tell the décor team whether you want loose flowers, hanging strings, malas or another arrangement. These uses may need different amounts and preparation.
Ask which parts of the design will use fresh sayapatri. If the plan includes other materials, have those named too. A colour picture alone does not explain what will arrive.
Agree on delivery and preparation
Ask who will receive the flowers and prepare them. The team should explain when the strings or garlands will be made and how they will be kept until use.
If a flower choice is not available, agree how a replacement is chosen. Ask for the family's approval before a major colour or material change.
Keep the story honest
If you want to know the farm behind your flowers, ask the team whether the source can be named. A photograph of a farm is only useful if it shows the actual supplier being discussed.
Sayapatri and makhamali are different flowers. Check the name when choosing from a sample. Do not use a price from an old Tihar news report as a current wedding quotation.
After the event
Ask which items will be collected and what happens to the loose flowers. Let the team explain the real plan for that booking. Do not assume every flower can be reused or composted without further sorting.
The pictures shown here are generated flower illustrations. Ask the supplier to confirm the flowers in your own order and keep that list with your booking.
