Red fabric, yellow or orange sayapatri and green leaves can be a starting point for wedding décor. They are choices, not a rule for every Nepali family. Use the colours your family wants and check how they work in the actual space.
Choose the main area first
Begin with the mandap or the couple's photo background. Decide which colour should be seen most. Then choose smaller flower and fabric areas around it.
You do not need to use every colour in every place. A simpler entrance can leave the ceremony area as the main focus.
Look at the venue colours
Check the walls, floor, chairs and fixed lights. A colour that looks soft outdoors may look different under coloured indoor lighting. Ask for samples during a venue visit if possible.
Look at the plan from where guests will sit. Make sure the people in the ceremony can still be seen against the background.
Check the flower name and supply
Sayapatri means marigold. Government flower-growing guidance describes its place in Nepal's flower use and cultivation. That background does not promise a particular shade or amount for your date.
Ask the supplier for a current sample or clear description. Yellow and orange flowers may not match a picture exactly. Agree what happens if the planned flower is not available.
Let the family guide the meaning
If a colour or item has a meaning in your family's ceremony, ask the family or ceremony guide how it should be used. Do not give every leaf or colour a religious meaning just because it appears in a wedding picture.
Some families want a very different palette. White, pink or another colour can also be discussed without calling it less local.
Keep the plan easy to share
Make one page with the main colours, material samples and a photo of the chosen space. Add notes about areas that need a different treatment, such as the home entrance or meal tables.
Share the same page with the flower team, fabric team and printer. This helps the invitation or sign fit the décor without forcing an exact match everywhere.
The best colour plan is one the family understands and the team can supply. Choose from real samples, keep the decisions clear and allow the venue to remain part of the picture.
