A home wedding can bring everyone close to familiar rooms and people. It also asks the house to do extra work. Before booking a tent or backdrop, invite the team to see the actual space and discuss how the household will use it.
Measure the space you can use
Show the team the courtyard, gate, stairs and rooms that guests may enter. Point out areas that must stay private or clear. A small garden is not all usable floor space if guests also need a route through it.
Ask for a plan that shows the ceremony, seats, food and walking routes. Keep doors open on the drawing. Include space for serving staff and materials arriving during setup.
Check delivery access
Can a vehicle reach the gate? If it cannot, where will it stop and how will the team carry the items? Show any narrow turns or steps during the visit.
Agree where materials can be kept before work begins. Keep the family entrance separate from the work area where possible. Do not ask relatives to climb over cables or packed frames.
Discuss power and cover
Ask the responsible team to check the supply needed for lights and other equipment. Let trained people handle cables, loads and wet-weather changes. A spare household socket is not a full power plan.
For a tent, ask about the ground, drainage, fixing method and safe use in the expected conditions. Do not assume any fabric roof will keep the whole guest area dry.
Plan toilets and the meal
Decide which toilets guests can use and how they will find them. Arrange water and someone to keep shared areas clean.
If cooking happens at home, leave the kitchen route clear. If food arrives from outside, agree where it is unloaded and served. Keep the ceremony route away from the food queue.
Talk with the household and neighbours
Agree the work hours, music plan and pack-up time. Ask before using a neighbour's entrance or parking space. Check any local or venue-like permission needs for your exact location.
Give one person the setup contact role. A home event works better when the family and team know which spaces they can use and which parts of the house need to keep working normally.
